John Salter

John has over 20 years of banking experience obtained working with tier 1 organisations such as RBS and Deutsche Bank where he has run various TB functional areas including RM management, Product management and Sales - including running large sales teams with International responsibilities.

In 2011 John was appointed to his current role as Cash Management and Payments Director.  He is responsible for designing and executing the growth strategy for this key pillar of the Transaction Bank.  As a subject matter expert he is very visible in the external market and is frequently published in industry media as well as completing regular speaking engagements. 

In June 2009 John took up his first post in Lloyds Banking Group, within the Wholesale Division, as Head of Trade Payment and Card products. During this period he built a new Global Network function owning all third party bank relationships for the Group, John also built a new Sales Advisory team to support client bids, with the team winning two industry excellence awards in 2010. John was also Accountable Executive for two of the Transaction Bank Integration projects.

Prior to this John spent over 10 years at Deutsche Bank successfully running regionally dispersed sales teams across Northern Europe, Scandinavia and the prestigious US desk for all inbound American companies.

John joined the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1998, as a participant of the graduate scheme. He left RBS as a Senior Relationship Manager in the Corporate and Institutional Banking Division, responsible for a portfolio of Non Bank Financial Institutional clients.

John has a degree in Economics from the University of Salford.
