James joined Lloyds Banking Group in September 2009 to head up Capital Markets and Advisory.
Previously with Goldman Sachs, James was a partner in the investment banking division, marketing the firm’s services to European corporates and financial institutions, and to Government clients across the globe.
James has worked in financial services for 22 years. He started his investment banking career with Citicorp in 1987 before joining UBS in 1988, where he eventually became Head of Bond Origination and Derivative Marketing for financial institutions and Sovereign clients. He joined West LB in 1998 as Managing Director responsible for debt and equity business in EMEA.
In 1999, he was recruited by Goldman Sachs into their fixed income group. In 2002, he was given the task of establishing a high-grade agency business and he ran the sovereign/supranational/agency debt business for three years. In 2005, he established an investment grade origination and syndication business unit within the newly formed financing group.
James’s core focus is to develop Lloyds Capital Markets business to support achievement of Trusted Advisor status.
